Heading to Lansing!

Time to freshen up our government knowledge before we head to Lansing on Monday!  Here are twelve questions for you to think about.  Hopefully you can remember the answers from our government study a few weeks ago.  You may also use other websites (the list on the right gives you a good starting point), books, or resources you may have to help you.  If you print them out or write them out, answer them correctly, and then bring the paper back to school you can earn two extra tickets!
  1. Name the branches of government.
  2. Which branch makes laws?
  3. Name the two groups in the law making branch.
  4. Which branch is the governor a part of?  Also, what is our governor's name?
  5. Which branch judges what the laws mean?
  6. What is the rule book of our government called?
  7. How many members does the Senate have in Michigan?
  8. How many members does the House of Representatives have in Michigan?
  9. How many justices are on the Supreme court of Michigan?
  10. Who is most important in our government?  Hint:  Think about the type of government we live in.
  11. Where was Michigan's first capital located?
  12. Name our district's state senator and our two state representatives.

**BONUS QUESTION (worth one extra ticket) - Name Michigan's two U.S. senators and our district's U.S. Representative in the House.


If you want another ticket, visit this website (click on the words "this website") and read about our national (federal) government.  Be sure to click on the links for each branch of government at the bottom of the page.  After you read each of those pages, they have more links you can click on to keep learning new things.  Then leave a comment telling something you learned there.  It must be something different than all the comments before you said. :)  Each new comment with new information earns its author another ticket.  Limited to 5 tickets per person (even if you leave more than 5 new facts, 5 is the highest number of tickets you can earn for leaving comments).  This offer expires on Monday, February 28 at 8:00pm.

    Wow, Lansing I can't wait till Monday!!!!!! It's going to be fun!!! But, we'll have to up early to be there on-time.Still it will be loads of fun!

    We wish you could too, Sam! But I know you will have a fabulous time with your family. If it were me, I'd be happy to give up a one day field trip in order to have a one week vacation with my family at Disney World! Have a great time! We'll be praying for you!

    Well I can not what for tomorrow because were going to have so much fun and were going to learn a lot of stuff and I am not so happy because I have to wake up the same time as my dad witch is pretty early.
