Love snow days for catching up on correcting papers! Gear up for a backpack-full tomorrow! :)
I was just reading through the 4th graders responses to this statement:
Describe what you observed about God in this math lesson.
Here are their responses (unedited, except for spelling). You will have to ask your child to explain the activity we did with the calculator to help you understand the calculator responses. Better yet, maybe one of the students will leave a comment explaining the activity for everyone to read. :)
- Well, in the beginning when Noah was told to get two of every animal, so x2. Some things different is who knows how many different animals there are. (Kendra)
- God made every number so there can be ways to solve math. (Jillian)
- I observed that God gave us a wonderful brain and math to understand things well. (Sophie)
- God goes on for ever just like math numbers go up higher than we can count. (Meghan)
- Because God made our brains better than calculators and then he made the numbers. (Sam)
- I realized that people didn't make up multiplication adding...but God put the idea in their minds. (Evan K.)
- He helped me in the same we just did and God is in control over us and he is awesome. (Jack)
- God gave me a brain so I could do lots of stuff and I know he was helping me when I was doing those flash cards. (Zoey)
- How he made the zero trick where you do the basic fact then add the leftover zeros. (Kyle)
- God is the smartest. He is the brain in the lesson. (Brant)
- That he gave us our brains to know this stuff. (Evan M.)
- That he created us to think and take our time on things. (Emilie)
- We are the basic fact where most of the time we don't earn the zeros. God earns the zeros. (Bethany)
- God gave you a brain to figure things out and we are grateful for that. (Ellie)
- Well, God made us in his image so God knows everything so we know something more than technology. (Noah)
- God gave me a faster brain than a calculator. (Trevor)
- God is fast like the Brain. The Calculator is us! (Luke)
- The zeros always attach to you like God. (Nathan)
God had all this ideas in his head and made it so people can use the numbers sam
ReplyDeleteThe math postings were great. They were deep and made you understand really how powerful God is. The way the they were written really made me smile.
ReplyDeleteI liked everybody's sentences about how math relates with God.I think they were very cool.
ReplyDeleteJust like a lot of 4th graders said our brain is just like a calculator it works even faster than a calculator so I am wondering why do we even need a calculator, did GOD give us the calculator to make work easier?
ReplyDeleteI was scanning math and God , and I noticed Nathen's He said the zeros all ways stick to the answer like God sticks to us. I think that is very true. God is all ways there for you. Just like you all ways need to add the zeros or the answer is not correct.

I don`t know Meghan. But for hard problems I like calculators.
ReplyDeleteThey are really cool all of them relate to life really well.I saw Meghan's I don't know why don't you ask Mrs.VZ.
ReplyDeleteMeghan the brain is faster then the calculator.
ReplyDeleteMeghan,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your question! We have to use the brain God gave us to decide which problems the calculator will work well on, and which problems our brain will do quicker without the calculator. He gave us calculators, but he gave us our brains too! :)
Yeah, that is really cool how he matched that up.
ReplyDeleteWhen i read bethany's comment calculaters are more fun ,but you learn more from doing it in your head

I think that your brain can be faster than the calculator and the calculator also can be faster than the brain can.

I looked at Evan.k and I agree that when he said that "God put the numbers in our mind NOT US" and I just really like what he said.
ReplyDeletewell i think is that why did people invent calculators if they new that even if we can't figure out a problem we can just keep practicing and practicing until you get right on the spot.

I think that all of us did a very good job at relating God to math all of us eighteen kids did a very good job at doing it and I also think that all of us related Math to God very well.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time ever in my life to comment on a Blog. Meghan asked me to comment on "God and Math." Since God is a God of order, logic and perfection, it is clear to me that he invented Math, and its logical associations and patterns.
